Playing in the rain! Augusta Ga Photographer, Evans Ga Photographer, Grovetown Ga Photographer, Augusta Child Photographer

I don't generally share pictures of my own family, but yesterday I took my sweet girls out to play in the giant puddles the rain made, and we caught some magic :)
Childhood is so fleeting.
Capture all the things you want to remember because they are only little for a little while.

The Birth of Robert Lamar Jr. Augusta, Ga Birth Photographer Evans, Ga Birth Photographer, Martinez, Ga Birth Photographer, Grovetown, Ga Birth Photographer, Augusta Photographer

This was my first C-section experience. I wondered going into the operating room if it was going to be as emotional and wonderful as a vaginal birth. After all, it is very different and there is a taboo surrounding C-sections that make women feel as though they are less of a woman for not having a traditional vaginal birth. If I'm being honest I did feel as though it would be strange and non-emotional.

I was wrong. Dead wrong.

They pulled this tiny baby out and I watched my dear friends eyes light up. She was worried, curious, and completely in love. Just like any vaginal birth I have attended. She crooked her neck and looked around wires and machines trying to catch a glimpse of her brand new boy. She asked over and over "Is he ok"?

She pined and pined after this sweet baby she had just brought into the world. Desperate to hold him, to touch him.

After what seemed like an eternity I'm sure, she got to hold her sweet boy. She smiled ear to ear and examined this new life. She nursed him, she had skin to skin time, and she caressed his cheek.

She loved on that little man just like all of my vaginal birth mamas loved on their babies.  I haven't cried at a birth in a long time. I could not control myself after his birth. It was highly emotional and I could feel the love she felt for her new child.

I got to stay until her sister and daughter got to meet their newest family member. He is one very loved boy. He is so special to everyone in his life. I feel very honored to have been invited to attend this amazingly intimate and special event. Jessica was so emotionally strong and did such an amazing job.

My preconceived notions about what to expect during and after a C-section were wrong and this was an amazing thing to be included in.

A mother is a mother, no matter how she becomes one.
